Operator vetting and Air Operator Certificate verification.
Every charter flight arranged through the IONA JETS network is operated by a third-party carrier selected by our broker partners. The safety and regulatory standing of that operator is the foundation of every mission. Our broker partners work with operators holding valid Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) and complying with applicable regulatory frameworks. AOC status, insurance coverage and operational approvals are verified as part of the standard sourcing process before any aircraft is proposed, subject to the vetting procedures maintained by each broker partner.
-
AOC verification: Broker partners confirm that proposed operators hold valid Air Operator Certificates issued and monitored by the relevant national aviation authority, whether EASA, FAA or equivalent regulatory bodies worldwide.
-
Insurance coverage: Broker partners verify that operators carry appropriate commercial liability and hull insurance coverage applicable to the type of operation, aircraft category and route being proposed for your mission.
-
Operational approvals: For specialized missions such as dangerous goods, medical evacuation, live animal transport or operations into restricted airfields, broker partners confirm that the operator holds the specific endorsements and approvals required.
Industry safety standards and third-party audit programmes.
Beyond the baseline AOC requirement, the charter industry has developed independent safety audit programmes that provide additional verification of operator standards. Programmes such as IS-BAO, Wyvern Wingman, ARGUS and IOSA offer structured assessments of safety management, training and operational practices. Our broker partners can source operators holding specific audit certifications when your travel policy or compliance framework requires them, subject to the availability of certified operators on your route and aircraft category.
-
IS-BAO and Wyvern: Broker partners can source operators registered with the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) or Wyvern Wingman, both widely recognized in corporate aviation as indicators of enhanced safety management.
-
ARGUS rated operators: For clients whose travel policies require ARGUS-rated operators, broker partners can filter proposals to include only carriers holding ARGUS Gold, Platinum or equivalent ratings applicable to their operation.
-
IOSA registration: For airline and commercial sub-charter operations, broker partners can source operators holding IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration, the standard safety benchmark recognized across the scheduled airline industry.
Crew qualifications, training and regulatory oversight.
The crews who fly your charter mission are employed, trained and supervised by the operating carrier, not by IONA JETS or the broker. Their qualifications, recurrent training, medical fitness and duty time compliance are governed by the authority that issued the operator's AOC. Our broker partners work with operators whose crew management meets applicable regulatory standards. Specific crew qualification details can be requested through the broker for missions where your organization requires additional verification.
-
Regulatory crew standards: Flight crews operate under the training, licensing and medical fitness requirements set by their national aviation authority, with recurrent checks and proficiency assessments mandated at regular intervals.
-
Duty time compliance: Operators manage crew scheduling within the flight time limitations and rest requirements defined by their regulatory framework, reducing the risk of fatigue-related incidents on your mission.
-
Additional verification: For clients with specific corporate aviation policies, broker partners can provide crew qualification summaries, training records or operator safety documentation upon request and with the operator's consent.
The role of IONA JETS in the safety chain.
IONA JETS does not operate aircraft, employ crews or hold an Air Operator Certificate. Our role is to connect clients with established broker partners who apply their own vetting standards when sourcing operators. The contractual and operational responsibility for the flight rests with the broker and operating carrier, as specified in the booking documentation. IONA JETS supports this process by maintaining a curated network of broker partners and providing clear information about where responsibilities lie.
-
Referral platform role: IONA JETS acts as an apporteur d'affaires under Swiss law, connecting clients with broker partners. We do not quote flights, negotiate operator contracts or make operational decisions on any mission.
-
Broker responsibility: The broker partner manages operator selection, contract negotiation, safety vetting and operational coordination. Their relationship with the client is direct, and the contractual terms are between the client, broker and operator.
-
Operator responsibility: The operating carrier holds the AOC, employs the crew, maintains the aircraft and bears the regulatory and operational responsibility for the safe execution of every flight under their certificate.
Frequently asked questions about safety and compliance.
Want to understand how safety is managed across the IONA JETS network? Below are answers to common questions about operator vetting, crew standards and where responsibilities sit in the charter chain. Submit your request through the IONA JETS platform, and our broker partners will handle all quoting, safety verification and coordination on your behalf.
IONA JETS acts solely as a digital referral platform connecting clients with independent air charter brokers across private, commercial and cargo aviation. IONA JETS is not an air carrier or aircraft operator and does not operate any flights; all flights are quoted, contracted and performed exclusively by third‑party brokers and/or certified operators under their own licenses, terms and conditions and insurance policies. The descriptions provided on this website are of a general nature and reflect common practices and service standards within the air charter industry; they are for guidance only and do not constitute a guarantee that a particular service, configuration or feature will be available on every mission. All services remain subject to operational constraints, availability and applicable regulations, and the precise conditions of your trip or shipment will be confirmed by the broker partner at the time of booking. Any transport‑related obligations or liabilities rest solely with the contractual carrier and/or broker identified in the booking documentation.

Who is responsible for the safety of the flight?
The operating carrier holds full regulatory and operational responsibility for each flight under their Air Operator Certificate. The broker partner manages operator selection and contract coordination. IONA JETS acts as a referral platform and does not bear operational or contractual responsibility for any flight.

Can I request operators with specific safety certifications?
Yes. If your corporate travel policy requires IS-BAO, Wyvern, ARGUS or IOSA-registered operators, communicate this requirement when submitting your request. Broker partners can filter their sourcing to include only carriers holding the specific certifications you require, and will confirm the operator's audit status before presenting the proposal, subject to availability on your route and aircraft category.
2
Does IONA JETS vet the operators that fly the missions?
IONA JETS does not vet operators directly. Operator vetting is performed by the broker partners within our network, who verify AOC status, insurance coverage, operational approvals and, where required, third-party safety audit certifications before proposing any aircraft to the client.
